Person reverence is commonly regarded as a virtue... probably it is. On the social plane of our daily lives it has evident advantages, although it may sometimes raise a smile. For actors, playing our parts in the comedy of apparent existence, it is surely an agreeable characteristic.

Metaphysically regarded, however, it is an unequivocal sign of identification with the notion of an ego. It betrays our state of ego bondage every time it is manifested. For only a supposed ego could experience such a sentiment, so that such sentiment is necessarily the manifestation of a supposed ego, that is, a manifestation resulting from the role of an assumed "personality". Surely it's not the case here...

Janice,

Your understanding of the judgment seat of Christ is partly correct. We who are saved will all appear at the Judgment (bema) seat of Christ and receive rewards based on the things we did while in the body, but they must be labors for Christ, and not good works for good works sake (this would disqualify most church programs today). The labors for Christ are symbolized as gold, silver, etc which are purified by fire, but the works for works’ sake constitute the hay and stubble which is not transcendent, and is consumed by the same fire (see below). Nevertheless, those at the bema seat are saved, and not cast out anywhere. Your view seems very purgatorial; which view scripture absolutely does not support in any way, shape, or form.

(2Co 5:10)For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.

(1Co 3:11) For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.

(1Co 3:12) Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble;

(1Co 3:13) Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is.

(1Co 3:14) If any man's work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward.

(1Co 3:15) If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.
